Dueodde VII. is a combination of two different composites of gypsum, dyed with ink. The sand carving process eroded the top layer to create a contrast between the clear form and the imperfect surface. The piece is reflecting upon the Japanese aesthetic of ‘Wabi-sabi’ and leaves space to appreciate the narrative of the material itself.

The cocoon shaped piece draws inspiration from a fictive winter scene. It is composed from kiln-worked glass and stringers, and cast into one with gypsum. The title refers to the peaceful calm winter days, known as “Halcyon days“ which originates from Greek mythology.

This wall relief is part of Anett’s Last winter series, the nuances of white are achieved through multiple firings of glass powders and frits. The piece is an abstract interpretation of the reminiscence of the winter landscapes both from Scandinavia, and from her home country, Hungary.
