Celebrating Florence’s cultural heritage

Sabina Corsini and Neri Torrigiani both hail from historical Florentine families, and as such are both dedicated to conserving the unique cultural heritage inherited from the Renaissance. As president of the Corsini Garden Association, Sabina is patroness of the prestigious event Artigianato e Palazzo, set up by Neri Torrigiani under the patronage of her late mother Princess Giorgiana Corsini. The event takes place annually in the Palazzo Corsini gardens in Florence, showcasing artisans and contemporary craftsmanship. Continuing her mother’s legacy, Sabina finds joy in promoting arts and craftsmanship, funding the restoration of monuments and protecting ancient crafts connected to the city of Florence.

Sabina: Craftsmanship is the most sophisticated expression of our civilization; it is rooted in necessity, manual skills, taste, imagination and a forward-looking approach.

Neri: I grew up in a family who cultivated a great love for handcrafted items. I have participated in courses in textiles, calligraphy and ceramics and nowadays I jump at the chance to handle a tool in an artisan’s workshop.

Sabina: As soon as I can, whenever I can, I help artisans by collaborating with them. Craftswomen are intuitive in both their tenacity to protect skills and to experiment, whilst craftsmen possess great determination to invent.

Neri: In the 26 years of Artigianato e Palazzo the anecdotes are infinite, what unites them all is the serenity and smile with which artisans meet the unpredictable and respond to the requests of new clients.
