The Heritage Crafts Association advocates traditional heritage crafts in the UK. Working in partnership with the government and key agencies, it provides a focus for artisans, groups, societies and guilds, as well as individuals who care about the preservation of traditional craftsmanship skills, and it works towards a sustainable framework for the future. Its mission is to support and promote heritage crafts as a fundamental part of our living heritage. In 2017, the HCA published the first edition of 'The HCA Red List of Endangered Crafts' to assess the vitality of traditional heritage crafts in the UK and identify those most at risk of disappearing. In 2020, the HCA joined forces with the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship to extend the Red List to a European level.
