An institution of art and design

The Art Academy of Latvia is a significant institution of art and design located in a neo-Gothic building in Riga, Latvia. It was founded in 1919 by the esteemed Latvian painter and the first rector of the Academy, Vilhelms Purvītis (1872-1945). The Academy provides bachelor's, master's and doctor of arts programmes to aspiring artists looking to acquire the necessary skills and academic knowledge to pursue successful careers in the field of art and design. It also organises and participates in local and international projects, exhibitions and other creative activities with the aim of broadening the horizons of students through contact with creative professionals, both nationally and globally.
