Exhibition: Empathic. Discovering a Glass Legacy

Empathic. Discovering a Glass Legacy is the fourth exhibition project of InGalleria. Curated by Luca Nichetto, Empathic showcases installations and limited-edition pieces by Ini Archibong, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, GamFratesi, Benjamin Hubert, Richard Hutten, Luca Nichetto, Elena Salmistraro and Marc Thorpe – all of whom were invited to incorporate Murano glass in their works. Without any brief or constraint, artists were asked to empathetically experiment with glass in its multiple forms: blown glass, glass rods, cast glass, to dialogue with viewers. All installations and limited-edition pieces are produced by InGalleria.

InGalleria - Punta Conterie Art Gallery

Glass

At the centre of a cross cultural project, the ideal setting for the art of glassBorn in the heart of Murano – the symbol of the glass industry worldwide – InGalleria is the exhibition space of Punta Conterie, the multi-faceted hub. Punta Conterie is dedicated to creativity – design, art of glass, visual arts and contemporary food and wine – it celebrates the unexpected cultural overlap. Located in the outer perimeter of the former Conterie, a building particularly representative of the island’s manufacturing heritage (“conterie” are tiny glass paste beads made by cutting long and thin perforated hot-rounded canes of glass), Punta Conterie is first of all a cultural and urban regeneration project and an interesting example of industrial archaeology. InGalleria stretches over 200 square metres on the first floor, merging architectural elements of the Muranese tradition with industrial features, tradition and contemporaneity, green and technology: the ideal setting for projects in the fields of glass and visual arts, with large areas for site-specific installations.
