Piedàterre is hosting one of its craftsmen at the Campo Santo Stefano store for the entire duration of the Homo Faber exhibition. This craftsman will show you how the original Venetian slippers are hand-stitched. During your visit, you will learn about the traditional techniques of shoe-making, and discover the large variety of models, fabrics and colours that have been at the core of Piedàterre since 1952.
Family friendly Venetian heritage In action
Piedàterre is the heart and "sole" of the friulane in VeniceFounded in 1952, the history of Piedàterre is deeply rooted in the history of the “friulane” or Venetian slipper. Still today, design and production are done by hand at its two Italian workshops, and sales are handled by two stores in Venice: one near the Rialto bridge, where the company was started, the other on Campo Santo Stefano.
A free audio guide, available to stream from 10 April to 1 May, will enhance your experience of Homo Faber in Citta. Discover more about Venice, its crafts workshops and its heritage as a city of craftsmanship, to complement your personal tour.
