Weaving course on a variety of traditions

5 days 2-6 people400 euros per person

This one-week traditional weaving course is an opportunity to delve into the weaving traditions of a specific country – Syria, Libya, Oman, Venezuela/ Colombia – where a weaving technique particular to the chosen country is taught through lectures, slideshows, books and examining various fabrics. The options vary from Syrian silk scarf weaving, Libyan Berber pillow weaving and Omani Camel band weaving through to Venezuelan/ Colombian finger braiding and ply-splitting. The first step in Mirja’s approach is to produce a miniature replica complete with finishing before moving on to the design and weaving of the final product. At the end of the course the student weaver will take home their finished piece.
