Learn the secrets of Zither making

In this one-hour tour with master zither maker and musician Szakál László, participants will receive an introduction to this ancient string instrument. Introducing you to his creations and techniques, you will receive a broad overview of how the master works. Expect to learn about everything from the special wood materials used in the zither to how the strings are put in place and tuned, and of course, the history behind this regionally celebrated instrument. After that, participants will be able to ask any questions they might have, before having the pleasure of hearing László play. Guests can expect to hear traditional Hungarian songs, Hull a pelyhes (Snowflakes are falling) and Tavaszi Szél Vizet Áraszt (The Spring Wind Brings Floods). After enjoying this mini-concert, guests will also have the chance to try their hand at playing the instrument themselves.
