"Scarlett Lattice Design" yūzen kimono

The hand-dyed design on this yūzen kimono features a continuous geometric pattern of squares that subtly changes as it progresses. Kunihiko Moriguchi brings traditional yūzen into the present day by using centennial techniques such as itome and maki-nori to form geometric patterns inspired by natural elements, including flowers, snow and flowing water. He continually seeks to incorporate artistic elements into his kimonos and strives to be at the vanguard of contemporary creation, placing emphasis on the function of the kimono itself.
