British artist Tamsin van Essen works primarily in ceramics. She completed a BA in ceramic design at Central Saint Martins and an MA in ceramics and glass at the Royal College of Art in London. Her work is mainly concept-driven, exploring notions of beauty and impermanence through scientific, medical and social-historical themes. Material experimentation is a distinguishing feature of her work, probing the technical properties of ceramics and the limits of its behaviour. Tamsin has exhibited her work internationally, including at Sotheby’s and the Saatchi Gallery in London, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Design Miami, the Nobel Museum in Stockholm and the Musée National de Céramique-Sèvres in Paris. Her works feature in a number of public and private permanent collections.
