Taizo Kuroda

Ceramicist

Taizo Kuroda (1946 - 2021) was one of the most important artists in Japanese contemporary ceramics and is known for his graceful, tranquil white porcelain works. Rather than exploring unusual forms or decorative designs in his work, Kuroda found himself captivated by the beauty of the pure white porcelain of Joseon Dynasty Korea. All of Taizo Kuroda’s creations, produced at his potter’s wheel, are marked by minimalism. ‘I am constantly searching for the perfect shape’, he reiterates, ‘but I’m not quite ready for it yet. Kuroda’s ceramics have been exhibited internationally and have attracted the attention of both artists and connoisseurs, including many important collectors and institutions.
