Pierre Salagnac is a bronzier d’art, sculptor and illustrator. He is one of the last remaining French craftspeople to practise the art of bronze turning. A graduate from the Ecole Boulle in Paris, his passion for metal grew during the four years that he worked with his master, Laurent Chenet. Under the artisan’s wing, Pierre was able to learn in depth the three specific savoir-faire that composes the age-old craft: bronze mounting, bronze turning and chasing. Searching for the form hidden within the material, he gives gracious life to the bronze. Among his masterpieces, the bonsai tree sculptures embody Pierre’s virtuosity. Before starting to sculpt, his inspiration takes shape through his hand-drawn illustrations.
