Pattern of Crafts

The wall panel is handcrafted in French walnut, madrona burr, birch, spalted chestnut, stained black tulip tree, stained bronze sycamore and smoked oak, using wood marquetry technique. The wood fragments merge into a landscape of pattern and abstraction.

Exhibition curator Sebastian Herkner took the geometric pattern of the terrace of the Basilica of San Giorgio, on San Giorgio Maggiore island, and invited selected master artisans to interpret this lace-like octagonal pattern in a graphic artwork.
