From a young age, Masayo developed a keen interest in drawing and using her hands to express her thoughts. She remembers copying her favourite manga cartoons. When she was in high school, she gave a message card to one of her friends that she had purchased but felt dissatisfied with it. Therefore, she made a cut-out card herself with a heart shape. From that moment on, every time she would hand or send a letter, she would cut out a motif on the card, normally a bouquet or the profile of a woman. For the past 30 years, Masayo has been developing this cut-out technique, pushing its boundaries further every time. The goal is to express the three-dimensional forms beyond the concept of traditional paper cutting.
