The Waiting Chair which lends its name to the exhibition was originally designed by Robert Wilson and appeared on the stage of Wilson’s Madame Butterfly premiering on November 19, 1993, at the Paris National Opera. The high gloss, piano-lacquered Waiting Chair which magically stands on two points of ground contact was created in a very limited edition of three for public exhibition.
