Hanna Miadzvedzeva

Ceramicist

Belarusian ceramicist Hanna Miadzvedzeva has always been fascinated by the nature that surrounds her. During her walks, the artisan observes how different textures contrast with each other, how the delicate structures of plants interact with air and light. It is these interactions that the artisan explores in her work, creating ceramic objects that have a lightweight effect. Hanna uses the technique of applying a porcelain slip with a rubber-tip syringe in layers. A kind of "skeleton" is thus created for the base in a plaster mould and when it becomes strong enough, the artisan takes it out and finalises it. There are many nuances to consider in this technique, including the shape of the object itself, the structure and frequency of the interlacing, the humidity of the slip and of course the firing. This process allows Hanna to create soft, delicate, weightless-looking sculptural pieces.
Hanna has received various awards for her work, including the Gold Prize in the "Yatai Lotus Mountain Prize" International Ceramics Contest 2019 in Changchun and the Bronze Prize at International Vasyl Krychevsky Ceramic Art Biennale in Opishne."
