Emilie Taylor

Ceramicist

Emilie Taylor was born and lives in Sheffield, England. She uses heritage processes, particularly traditional slipware, to interpret and represent post-industrial landscapes in her large scale pieces. She is interested in the pot as a container and metaphor for how we seek to contain different communities within society. Through her interdisciplinary projects, she hopes to disseminate the alchemical quality of ceramics in a socially engaged context. She has completed several residencies and has exhibited at prestigious locations, such as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Her most recent solo exhibition (May Day, May Day, May Day) was at Rugby Art Gallery in 2021. She is an alumna of the Young Masters Art Prize and winner of the Focus on the Female Young Masters Award 2021. Emilie is also represented by Cynthia Corbett Gallery.
