Masterfully expressing the rich ceramic traditions of Kosiv village in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine, Trots Family Ceramics has been creating Hutsul culture inspired objects since 1997. Ihor, Khrystyna and their daughter Maria-Tereza work using a distinctive local sgraffito technique famous for its trademark green and yellow colours and protected by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Trots Family Ceramics seek to innovate by combining traditional Kosiv approaches with experimentation. To create an object they use two different types of clay: brownish red for the foundation and white as a canvas for painting. The atelier's artisans strive to reach ceramic excellence by introducing new shapes and patterns. The family are true enthusiasts of their craft with a passion to preserve the colourful traditions for the coming generations.
