Born in Cheshire, Stephen Jones, the milliner loved by the Royal Family and many celebrities, studied Womenswear at London’s Saint Martin School of Art. The Chairman of the British Hat Guild opened his first milliner's atelier in 1980 in the heart of Covent Garden, very close to today’s location. While working at the tailoring department of the couture house Lachasse, he learned his skills from the head of the millinery workroom, a lady called Shirley Hex.
One of the trailblazers at the legendary London Blitz club, Stephen Jones makes millinery fun and compelling, combining tradition and innovation. Since the early 80s, Stephen Jones has collaborated with designers such as Rei Kawakubo, Jean Paul Gautier, Vivienne Westwood and very recently with Thom Brown and Christian Dior. In addition to his Model Milliners collection he designs Miss Jones and Jones Boy diffusion ranges.
