Partners in life and in the studio, Oleksandr Barabanov and Halyna Kanyuka hold degrees in history and marketing respectively. United by their love of ceramics, in 2017 they decided to start a studio in Kyiv and entirely devote their lives to this ancient craft. When asked about their profession, they say that it’s all about “finding new expressions of clay and filling the space with beauty”. The artisan duo are not shy to experiment with forms and techniques. SaGa Pottery’s objects boast uneven, rough edges, flaming, bold glazes and a strong sense of interior aesthetics. Oleksandr and Halyna’s ceramics are very popular among craft connoisseurs in Ukraine and abroad and are regularly featured in fairs and exhibitions.
