Dario Pegoretti has been creating unique bicycle frames for over 30 years, catering to a clientele which includes musician Ben Folds and the late actor Robin Willliams. Pegoretti’s journey in the cycling industry begun when its founder, Dario Pegoretti, started an apprenticeship for Milani. Soon enough, he was welding bicycle frames for all of the most important labels. People in the industry were in awe of this craftsman who was able to marry geometry with a great feeling for the rider.
In the 1990s, Dario opened his own workshop and ran it as an old-time bottega, creating handmade customised bicycle frames, and training apprentices. He also developed his painting style, ciavete, a free-flow form of abstract painting. Still today, when a client orders a ciavete, they will not know what it looks like until the very end. In 2018 Dario passed away. The bottega is now run by Pietro Pietricola (one of Dario’s former apprentices) and his friend Cristina Würdig. Together they run the production and keep the memory of Dario’s artistic genius alive.
