This traditional cutting evokes the climb to the mountain pasture. In its centre, a border of edelweiss flowers frames the head of a mischievous calf. The mountains on the horizon, the flowers in the fields symbolise the bucolic Swiss landscape.
A self-taught paper cutting artist, Marie Beun describes her first interest in the craft as nothing but a voice in her head, like a calling. After thinking at first that such talent was innate and not taught, she worked for hours on end for a year in order to master this craft. Working so intensively confirmed her interest and talent for paper cutting, and she is now an accomplished craftswoman. Her creations are a way of expressing a world of imagination and dream-like images. She has always been fascinated by fairy tales, and describes them as allowing oneself a bit of dream in a sometimes thorny life. Paper cutting is more than an interest to Marie, it is a real passion and an addictive activity that she enjoys sharing through courses and exhibitions.

This paper cutting is inspired by Art Nouveau. The pattern is partly symmetrical. The centre represents two women. The border is partly symmetrical, but it is modified on the sides and top of the work.

Placed between two panes of glass, a few centimetres away from the background, this ship appears blurred by the shadow cast on the background of the painting. It is drawn and cut as finely as possible to give an ephemeral appearance.
