Sharing through weaving

  • • Léonore likes creating one-of-a-kind pieces
  • • She is a teacher as well as a craftswoman
  • • She lets her imagination run free while working

Léonore Graff’s work is mostly guided by inspiration, the material she has available and improvisation that is at the heart of her creative process. This is why she cherishes unique pieces or limited collections. Uniqueness is essential to her craft, and keeps it interesting. A teacher as well as a craftswoman, she is used to working with other people, whether it be teaching a workshop in a shelter, offering private courses or collaborating with other artists and artisans. Sustainability is also an important motivation for her, as she tries to use mostly locally sourced material in the best way possible. Her goal of using all material available guides her creations. In her work Léonore combine resourcefulness and creativity.

On this stripy scarf, the warp yarns are blue merino and the weft is looped silk interspersed with stripes of blue, pink or red merino. The crepe weave gives an irregular, soft surface.

Cushions in collaboration with quilter Claire Lavigne

These cushions are made from organic cotton and linen. The surfaces in the pattern are never identical, as they are decided on in the moment, as they are being woven. They are the result of a collaboration: the stitching and trimming are done by Claire Lavigne, a quilter in Lausanne.

Multicoloured plaid

This plaid fabric, or beach towel, is made from organic cotton and linen. The embossed weave gives it a raised appearance and helps it to absorb water, so it can be used in all circumstances. Thanks to its easy-care properties, it can be used outdoors or at home.

The warp yarns of this scarf are blue merino wool, and the weft is unbleached silk and linen. The weave as a whole forms a pattern resembling a snowflake, with the extremities left to form small fringes.
