“Singing and loving” is the fascinating name of the weaving workshop which is part of Le Costantine Foundation, a project blending hospitality, craftsmanship, biodynamic agriculture and training, in the heart of the Salento Region. According to the will of the five women who created the project in 1982, every activity of the foundation is specifically linked to the territory and aims to preserve ancient and authentic traditions turning them into opportunities of growth and development for the residents of the area.
Fittingly, the weaving atelier employs only women from the small village of Casamassella, who handcraft their textile creations on antique wooden handlooms, inspired by traditional techniques and styles but also open to new designs and materials. The workshop embodies a praiseworthy mix of exquisite craftsmanship and women empowerment which attracted the attention of the fashion house Dior, that collaborated with the craftswomen of the atelier for their 2020 Cruise Collection.
