Jūratė atelier was founded in 2001 by three friends living in different countries - Lithuania, Germany and the Netherlands - who came together to promote the beauty of Lithuanian linen products and loom weaving. The studio is named after the Lithuanian sea goddess Jūratė, who, according to legend, lived in an amber castle in the Baltic Sea. The studio is located in the heart of Vilnius Old Town, near the Town Square. It houses a century-old weaving loom with which artisans still weave handmade fabrics.
A distinctive feature of Jūratė is the combination of ancient weaving methods and modern aesthetics. Natural leather with handwoven linen is used to craft bags and home accessories .Today, JŪRATĖ adapts expertise from Baltic heritage to create original pieces for modern lifestyles: calm, pure and minimalistic. Northern seaside colours of grey, blue, green, and off-white are matched with patterns that have been used by Baltic craftspeople for centuries.
