Huta Julia masters the art of crystal glass manufacturing. Such traditions were popular in Karkonosze (south of Poland) since the 19th century. In 1866 Friedrich Wilhelm Heckert, the emperor's godchild from Berlin, built a glass decoration plant, and 23 years later it was extended to the glassworks. The historic factory is located in the heart of the Giant Mountains, in Piechowice near Szklarska Poręba in the very same old walls of Heckert's glassworks. Since 2006 Huta Julia has been given a new lease of life thanks to its caring owners, a polish family from the region.

Huta Julia is known for its collection of products referencing 19th century design in a contemporary manner. Some of them were awarded titles at Lodz Design Festival. The hallmarks of glass pieces made here are unique cuts such as the cult Pineapple, the minimalist Linea and the geometric Patches. The basic tool for making the crystal is a blast furnace heated up to 1200 degrees celsius. The process is extremely spectacular to admire for visitors.
