The story of SC Hora begins with the first violins made by the master luthiers Roman Boianciuc and Alexandru Apăteanu in Reghin in 1951. While production reached 37 masterfully crafted violins in the first year of the workshop's establishment, it grew to 435 units a year later and continued to expand. In the late 1950s, SC Hora started producing other instruments, prompting the factory to transition from a small workshop to a large-scale manufacturer in the 1960s.

Today the company produces around 70,000 musical instruments annually, of which 8,000 are bowed instruments (violins, violas, cellos, double basses) and 60,000 are plucked string instruments (classical and acoustic guitars, mandolins, Irish bouzoukis, ukuleles, etc.). The manufacturer uses local wood (spruce and maple) from the Carpathian Mountains. The wood is stored in its warehouses for 5 to 10, even up to 20 years, to age naturally, thus acquiring superior acoustic qualities and long-lasting stability. The exceptional materials combined with the craftsmanship of the workers and technicians contribute to the outstanding quality of the instruments.
