Qnar Ceramic Art was founded by Gurgen Vachyan, a professional ceramic artist and teacher at the Academy of Arts in Yerevan. In his young years, Gurgen studied in Ecuador, where he explored a great number of techniques, which later influenced his craft. The signature aesthetic of Qnar Ceramics is the Armenian ornamentation from the Western school of Armenian ceramics, originally from Jerusalem.
Gurgen and the other artists at Qnar Ceramics are trying to preserve the well known Armenian traditions of ceramics by using Armenian ornaments and patterns. At the same time, they use fragments, faces, flowers, and motifs from their everyday lives, which injects modernity into their designs. The manufacturer mainly works with white clay and porcelain which are painted. They offer workshops and masterclasses to ceramic lovers and believe that it is impossible not to like clay once you try it.
