The history of Atelier Gauthier & Compagnie dates back to 1888, when François and Georges Gauthier first founded Gauthier Frères. This first company specialised in decorative ornaments and apartment hardware, and was located in the historic upholstery quarter of Faubourg Saint-Antoine, in Paris. For over a century and through four generations, the family successfully perpetuated a unique know-how in metalwork, most notably brass, by producing a variety of foundry pieces such as curtain poles and finials. High quality and fine aesthetics characterise their creations.
Across the eras and styles, Gauthier & Compagnie has built up a rich heritage of more than 1,000 models used to make foundry moulds. Today, in the workshop situated in Chartres, the team of craftspeople works exclusively on custom-made projects. From Art Nouveau-style rods to innovative blind mechanisms, their expertise continues to evolve with the times, while remaining rooted in history.
