A miniature world full of stories

  • • Ernesta turned to jewellery after working in interior design
  • • Imagination, enthusiasm and an urge to create are important to her
  • • She finds unusual forms of nature inspiring

Ernesta Statkutė’s path to jewellery making emerged out of her interest in interior design. After graduating from interior design studies at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, she realised that she wanted to break out of the discipline’s bounds. She found it much more important to be able to create freely – after all, in a small piece of jewellery an entire world can be created – or hidden. Ernesta’s jewellery evokes associations with the world of flora or fauna. But there is space for humans as well, as miniature human figurines inhabit her pieces, turning them into miniature sculptures. Humans and plants live secret lives designed to be carried around on a body. Here, narratives are translated into silver, we just have to try to read them.

Coral Diamonds

The design of these handcrafted silver earrings is inspired by the skeletal form of coral. The circular tips of the coral, evocative of diamond drops, are polished and contrast with the matte silver finish of their many branches.

The Sun of the depths of the sea

This hand-crafted silver ring is mounted with a cut citrine stone. The design of the ring is inspired by sea life and forms – found at the depth of the sea and sea bed – such as corals.

Together

This necklace and pendant are crafted form silver 585 and yellow gold. Each piece of this jewellery series has a secret life of its own, all you have to do is to be able to see it. The silver and gold both feel very alive, as if they are pulsating – this provides a warmth to the piece but also encourages the viewer to craft their own story based on what they can see. The pendant acts as life counsellor, narrating matters of the heart and mind, which will enable you to hear your inner voice.

Best friend

This silver ring, plated with gold on its edge, is inspired by the notion of a best friend. The textured ring is finished with a tiny figure sitting atop its edge. When you find someone, you can not only talk to, but also keep silent. When you find a person, who completes your sentences. When you find someone, who is with you not only when you smile but also when you burst into tears. When you find someone, who is the twin of your soul.
