She is the founder of the Schloss Hollenegg for Design, an international project based in Austria which offers an exhibition platform and a residency programme to young emerging designers. She has curated many noteworthy exhibitions including Operae in Turin in 2017, Design after Darwin in Venice in 2018 and Alcova Sassetti in Milan in 2019. She is a public speaker and regularly undertakes jury duties and lectures at the Exhibition Design Master at the FH Joanneum in Graz.

What does craftsmanship signify for you?

Craftsmanship is the quality that comes from creating with passion, care, and attention to detail. It is a quality that is honed, refined, and practised over the course of a career. It means making things with love.

How does it feature in your life?

I live in an extraordinary historical home where craft can be seen and admired in the furniture, tapestries, wall decorations, chandeliers…

Do you work with craftspeople?

I support young emerging designers. Some of them are craftsmen in their own right. Some of them need craftsmen to see their ideas come to life, so I try to facilitate these encounters.

How would you define excellence?

Excellence is a talent or quality which is unusually good and so surpasses ordinary standards. Excellence is special because it is rare. I think it is more important to strive for it than to really achieve it.
