Buryad Ethno Market ZAM, a one-of-a-kind shop, started as a project in 2016 to find and promote talented artisans and brands from the Republic of Buryatia. ZAM’s founder Aryuna Tsybikova left a job in Moscow to return to her roots in Ulan-Ude, a unique place of interconnecting culture and heritage. The city's unusual climate, vicinity to Lake Baikal, rich history and original traditions all influence local master artisans. In the Buryad language 'zam' means 'way', a symbolic choice since the project helps regional artisans find their way to recognition. In ZAM visitors can find jewellery, woodwork, pottery, home textiles, clothes and more.
