The Goldsmith Museum in Kazimierz Dolny is the only museum of its kind in Poland. It was founded in 1978 as the first branch of the Vistula Museum. It is located in the historic cellars at the Old Market where it holds an impressive collection of 3,000 pieces of old and modern goldsmith art from the Middle Ages to the present day, including collections of Christian, Orthodox, Jewish and secular silverware. The museum also has a big collection of Polish 19th-century sugar bowls and candlesticks, as well as one of the largest collections of contemporary art jewelry.

The permanent exhibition includes a unique reconstruction of a former goldsmith’s workshop, showing the authentic 19th century furnishings and tools used for making Polish patriotic jewellery. The exhibition is enriched by films showing goldsmiths at work using the old techniques, visitors can even make a small silver ornament themselves. Among the most important artists currently represented are Fajngold, Fraget, Malcz, Nast, Odiot, Sazikow and Werner.
