The Rooftile and Brickworks Museum N. & S. Tsalapatas is one of the remaining examples of industrial activity in Greece. Located in Volos, in the old factory’s main premises, the museum aims to promote industrial heritage by reviving its original sites. Founded by the Tsalapatas brothers in 1926, the manufacturer used to produce a wide variety of bricks and tiles, such as byzantine and marseille types. Their pieces were exported all across the world. After ceasing its activity in 1978, the Ministry of Culture declared the factory a protected monument in 1995.

The Museum was created by and operates under the direction of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation. The grinders, the compressors, the cutters, the clay silos, the trolleys and the Hoffmann kiln illustrate the production chain, allowing visitors to follow each step of the process. The entire factory comes to life, giving visitors a glimpse of the traditional professions of brick maker and tiler.
