The Rija Suiti craftsmanship and art space was founded in 2010 by Inga Šēna-Laizāne, who herself makes Suiti folk costumes, and manages the association Suiti craftsmen. Suiti are a small Catholic community in the Lutheran western part of Latvia. The art space exhibits and sells works by the Suiti craftsmen, needlewomen and artists - all local, all handmade, and with Suiti characteristics: bold colours and contrasts. The Rija offers the chance to get acquainted with different traditions of Suiti: their folk costumes, singing, traditional food and more. This Suiti cultural space is part of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
