The terrific world of terracotta

On the outskirts of Kikinda, a city in the north of Serbia, there are former military barracks that today house the Terra Museum. It is a marvellous land of terracotta. Monumental reddish sculptures of various styles, artistic languages and size dominate the interior and exterior of the museum, which stretches over 2,100 square metres. The museum was born out of the International Symposium of large-scale terracotta sculptures, which since 1982 gathers Serbian and international master artisans every year in Kikinda. So far, more than 250 sculptors from 46 countries have taken part in the Terra Symposium.

The Terra Museum was founded by the Serbian sculptor Slobodan Kojić in 2017. In addition to the permanent collection of works of artists such as Mrđan Bajić, Kosta Bogdanović, Olga Jevrić, Olga Jančić, Mira Brtka, Yin Xiaofeng, Wade Saunders, Rosaria Iazzeta, and Nicolas Zaric, the Museum occasionally hosts autonomous exhibitions in the Museum Salon.
