The Piscu School Museum and Workshop was founded in the heart of an old pottery village, the only one near the Romanian capital, Bucharest, where traditional pottery is still produced. The museum functions as a cultural space, in which everything revolves around the memory of the old community of artisans from Piscu, as well as a space that promotes education through heritage. Its collection includes traditional pottery, fragments of old pews, multimedia content and vintage photos. The public is invited here to discover the history of the place and old ceramic objects, but also to experience the craft of pottery through open workshops.

Initiated in 2016 by the art historian Adriana Scripcariu and sculptor Virgil Scripcariu after 11 years of living and working in Piscu, the project of building a museum in the village has benefited from the support of numerous volunteers and partners, including locals, architects, entrepreneurs, students, local authorities, companies and other pottery communities. The Piscu School Museum and Workshop is among the winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2022, in the Education, Training and Skills section.
