History of jewellery in an architectural gem

Pforzheim Jewellery Museum offers a unique insight into the history of jewellery. The Reuchlinhaus, which is home to the museum, is a treasure in its own right. Designed by Manfred Lehmbruck in 1961, it is reminiscent of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's architecture in the International Style. Inside, some 2,000 exhibits bear witness to the rich diversity of jewellery created over the course of five millennia: among them are elaborate and finely crafted pieces of Etruscan, Baroque and Art Nouveau jewellery.

Since December 2021, the ethnographic collection is presented in a new way. There is also an ornate pocket watch collection by Pforzheim watchmaker Philipp Weber, on loan from Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw that exemplifies the artistry of watchmakers and goldsmiths from the 17th to 19th centuries. Another section is devoted to the history of Pforzheim’s jewellery industry. Special exhibitions give visitors an opportunity to repeatedly rediscover the museum. Guided tours of the museum are available via the friendly resident robot Loui.
