Founded by Ioanna Papantoniou in memory of her father Basil in 1974, the Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation (PFF) studies, preserves and showcases the culture of the Peloponnese region and of Greece as a whole, along with the evolution of international fashion. PFF is housed in Basil’s 20th-century residence in Nafplio city, which was restored and converted into a museum in 1981.

The B. Papantoniou Museum has since hosted an array of exhibitions and educational activities, featuring items from the foundation’s 50,000 artefact collection, related to aspects of modern culture; such as rural and urban costumes or textiles. The current permanent exhibition titled “The collections: travelling through space and time” navigates Greece’s physical and social environment from the 19th to the 21st century. In the display case at the entrance, you will find creations by Katerina Yannaka, Francesco Moretti, Jeanette Kastenberg and Katherine Baumann, while in the past, the museum has hosted exhibitions by Maria Loizidou and Marigo Kassi.
