The museum of the Ospedale delle Bambole was founded in December 2018 to combine the existing restoration centre with a narrative laboratory. The museum space is characterised by the presence of multimedia systems that allow visitors to experience a total immersion in this magical place. Images, sounds, and voices enhance the evocative potential of the silent presences that inhabit the doll's hospital.
The collection is mainly composed of dolls ranging from the 18th century to the present day. The museum itinerary focuses on the different elements behind the creation of dolls: eyes, heads, voices, tailoring, and make-up and hair. Also worthy of note is the counter from 1895 on which “Doctor” Luigi Grassi began to work, modernised by the projections of the hands of today’s artisans at work.
