The North Bohemian Museum in Liberec was founded in 1873 as the first museum of art and industry in the Czech Republic. Great collections of applied art from different disciplines of art crafts are now presented in a recently renovated museum space. Among the most important is the glass collection, which recalls the great eras of Czech artistic glass craft and its importance for life in the local region.
Sculptures of famous personalities such as Libenský and Cigler are represented, as well as lighting objects by B. Šípek and J. Berdych. The museum also organises a number of educational activities and exhibitions. Among the most important are the shows resulting from the world-famous international IGS creative glass symposiums in nearby Nový Bor.
