When the Museo Lázaro Galdiano opened in January 1951, it impressed with the rich collections of José Lázaro Galdiano that contained more than 12,600 pieces he had gathered over 60 years, and the innovative museography used to showcase the pieces. Today, 4,820 pieces are displayed over four floors, including masterpieces from renowned names such as Goya, Velázquez and many more. The third floor, named the Collector’s Cabinet, is where textiles, coins, weapons, silverware, glass, ceramics, enamels and ivories can be admired among other rare and unique pieces.

The Lázaro Galdiano Foundation that was founded to manage the inherited legacy of nearly 13,000 works, also established a publishing house as well as a library containing 20,000 volumes. With the museum’s offer of guided tours and educational activities, visitors can access this incredible collection in an entertaining way. Their shop contains different publications and with an on-demand printing service, visitors can choose one of the 132 high resolution reproductions.
