In 2023 Mapu Speakers, producers of the first active sound systems handmade from clay and other low-impact materials, opened a new space in the centre of Bremen: the (Con)temporary Crafts Studio. It is a platform that brings together the Mapu Speakers open workshop and showroom with a space for other makers, too. It also allows for dedicated crafts workshops, exhibitions and cultural events, with the idea of periodically focusing on a different material, such as clay, wood, wool, or metal, and inviting different artisans to work, sell and exhibit their products. The MAPU project was developed by Pablo Ocqueteau and Philine von Düszeln, to achieve cultural, social and environmental sustainability.
