Located in a two-storey, classical building, the stately Porcelain Museum is instantly noticeable. Within these walls, the first Herend Porcelain pieces were born. Originally a factory, the building was converted into a museum in 1964, and became the home of the largest collection of Herend Porcelain to date. Today, it houses both the manufacturer, designed to popularise the porcelain making profession, as well as the museum itself, which has been operating as a charitable foundation since 1991.

In 2019, the museum underwent significant redevelopment. Today, the museum is interactive to meet the needs of the 21st century. Visitors can explore the museum and its contents through tablets, interactive games and an animated short film, all of which have been designed to tell the history of Herend Porcelain. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions of various types of applied and fine art quarterly.
