Frozen in time, Casa Carbone is an intact family home, bearing witness to the lifestyle of a typical upper-middle class family between the 19th and 20th centuries, a few kilometres East of Genoa. The house, together with its citrus garden, was bequeathed to FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano, the Italian trust for the protection of historical, artistic and landscape heritage, by Emanuele and Siria Carbone in 1987. Here, elegance and comfort go hand in hand with sobriety and good taste: the charm of the interior lies above all in the harmony of the ensemble, made up of a collection of carefully paired pieces.

The central hall, the only reception room, is the heart of the residence. The ceilings are decorated with temperas dating back to the end of the 19th century, representing Ligurian figures and triumphant themes; the floors express the coastal decorative tradition with colourful mosaics, geometric and floral motifs. On the main floor, visitors can find a 16th and 17th century picture gallery of the Genoese School and a refined collections of porcelain, watches and fans, while the new layout on the ground floor focuses on the white and blue glasses by Mino Baldissera.
