In Camariñas, the sound of the waves competes with the distinctive sound of the famous encaje de bolillos (bobbin lace) weavers. This tradition arrived in this Galician village by sea, brought by the Italian traders who travelled the Italy-Flanders route in the late Middle Ages. The Camariñas Lace Museum was founded in 1996, as a tribute to this ancestral craft linked to women's work, which preserves traditional techniques and designs. The museum’s upper floor shows the permanent collection, with exquisite objects such as the collection of mantillas, veils, fans and parasols, mainly from the 18th century.

Visitors will also find religious ceremonial pieces or sale samples with more than 400 different lace models. At Easter, the village hosts the International Camariñas Lace Exhibition, a festival for tourists. In addition to demonstrations by national, international and local lace makers, fashion shows are also a part of this festival, where viewers can see how lace has been incorporated into contemporary clothing.
