Founded in Paris in 1864, the library of the Muséé des Arts Décoratifs has been located in Pavillon de Marsan in the west wing of the Louvre since 1904. It houses a vast collection of publications relating to the decorative arts, graphic arts, architecture, design, costume and fashion, and the history of art. It has 120,000 printed volumes, books, and exhibition catalogues, as well as a computerized catalogue with over 100,000 entries.

The collection includes catalogues from the Salons and Universal exhibitions, rare books from the 15th to the 21st century, Japanese scrolls and books, 19th century photographs and more. Visitors can also discover the picture collection of Jules Maciet, which is composed of 5,000 in-folio albums. The library offers a beautiful reading room looking out to the Tuileries Garden, a computer room, a reference room and a rare book room. It is frequented by students and professionals in their respective fields; such as architecture, design, fashion, theatre and fine arts.
