Costume Moda Immagine is on the first floor of Palazzo Morando, an eighteenth-century residence located in the heart of Milan. The Art Gallery (Pinacoteca) includes the rooms towards the inner courtyard of the building, and the rooms of the eighteenth-century apartment Morando Attendolo Bolognini, that overlook via Sant’Andrea. The Pinacoteca preserves an important iconographic collection, which shows the transformations of the urban structure and the main events of public and private life of the city of Milan between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries.

These works, coming from the collection of Luigi Beretta and acquired by the city of Milan in 1934, found a first location at Palazzo Sormani. After the Second World War, the museum was transferred to the rooms of Palazzo Morando Attendolo Bolognini, left to the municipality by Countess Lidia Caprara. In the so-called new wing (ala nuova), a civic collection of costume and fashion is exhibited in rotation.
