Live Silver Museum was founded in 2012 and is located in Jacob’s Barracks, the longest building in the Old Town of Riga. As unique as its building, the museum houses a collection of large-scale silver sculptures, small-scale decorative pieces and silver jewellery, all handcrafted by master silversmith, Oļegs Auzers and his apprentices. Auzers was encouraged by his wife, now the museum director, Ligita Auzere, to show his life's work in a permanent exhibition space in Limbaži, Latvia.
In 2019, due to the big public interest, the museum moved to Riga. The majestic silver sculptures are exceptional not only for their craftsmanship, but for their philosophical reflections and quests for answers. Hours can be spent admiring and examining every little detail of the artworks, and finding answers to the existential questions, which they evoke.
