This shop is part of the Krestetskaya Strochka company, which was founded in 1929 as a means to develop local crafts. Krestetskaya Strochka is a style of thread embroidery that originated in the mid 19th century in the Novgorod region. Unusual embroidery patterns, initially used as a way to decorate clothes and humble household items, charmed many people and gained recognition in Russia and abroad. In 2015 the factory re-emerged as a large industrial enterprise; the historical building was reconstructed, equipment modernised, and the shop began to sell unique items of clothing and home furnishings with a fascinating variety of decorative patterns.
